ABOUT STAND

STAND is the fastest-growing student anti-genocide coalition in the world today with more than 700 active chapters around the globe. Run entirely by students, for students, STAND provides members with creative and effective national campaigns, organizing materials and resources, educational information, policy and advocacy training, and a network of informed and active peers. As the student division of the Genocide Intervention Network, STAND's long-term mission is to establish a permanent anti-genocide constituency that holds elected officials accountable for doing all they can to stop genocide in Darfur and prevent future atrocities elsewhere.

In the past year alone, STAND students have:
Lobbied for the successful passage of the Sudan Accountability and Divestment Act, which authorizes state divestment from companies doing business in Sudan and prevents future federal contracts with those companies.
Lobbied for the successful passage of the Genocide Accountability Act, which prohibits genocidaires from seeking refuge in the United States.
Raised almost $200,000 for civilian protection in Darfur to protect women and girls.
Organized 7 national conferences around the country and hundreds of local events to educate students about genocide in Darfur and elsewhere.
